In its effort to make knowledge accessible, the Library of Alexandria is availing, through its website and catalog, a number of books in digital format. The Library of Alexandria believes that the copyright of the books, which are made available in their entirety, has already expired, thus, the books fall in the public domain. While the remaining books that are still in copyright are only available within the Library’s premises. As such, all books are made available in accordance with the general legal provisions of the Egyptian Law and the international standard (Berne Convention and TRIPS Agreement).

However, some of the books present a special case where we were not able to find any information on their authors, publishers, or date of publication. These books are also published digitally in their entirety as they generally fall in a category internationally known as "Orphan Works".

Should a right holder identify any of these works as their legitimate right and we have erred in publishing it in full, please contact the Library of Alexandria.

Claimers may contact the BA General Counsel in writing and send a request of removal with appropriate right documentation via registered mail to:
